Health & Safety

This applies to two separate areas of childcare in a family home. I had to go through the CPR program for infant and child and also I had to have First Aid Health and Safety training. You have the CPR classed once a year, and the First Aid training was every 3 years last time I checked for CA. You must have a recent T.B .test also. There are many ways to protect you and your family and your daycare children from spreading germs. The most important thing first is proper hand washing.

Teaching young children how to wash their hands properly is very important. Also once a week clean your daycare toys and if possible sanitize what items you can in the dishwasher. If not soak the toys used most inside in a mild bleach and dish soap “bath”. Rinse them all thoroughly and dry them well. We can't avoid all germs but we can do our best to teach healthy hygiene. These children are at the hand to mouth stages, so parents if your child is too ill to be around other children, please keep them home with you. Respect the other children and the providers health and her own family. This should apply to all of us. Be advised though, each provider can have their own policies in their contract on what they feel is admissible or not. Contact your local Community Care Licensing Agency and they will give you a contact number or pamphlet for further information.
